In April 2013, the Calgary Zoo announced a plan to rebuild the Zoo over the next 20 years.
An exciting new outdoor adventure area at the Calgary Zoo is the Zooventure. It allows visitors to walk through the Edmonton Trail entrance and explore four unique habitats – Canadian Wilds, African Savannah, Dorothy Harvie Gardens and Prehistoric Park. The Zoo is accessible via Calgary’s C-Train (McKnight/Westwinds) route 202, by car via Memorial Drive, and by bicycle and footpath via the Bow River pathway. You can get to the Calgary Zoo via the Bow River pathway, starting from the Eau Claire Trans Canada Trail Pavilion. When you see the Old Langevin Bridge, cross the river and continue east along the path. After you pass the Memorial CTrain Station, you’ll cover a river, cross Zoo Road, and continue south until you reach the Calgary Zoo’s west entrance.
The two parking lots at Calgary Zoo are the North Lot near the main entrance & the West lot near the Island’s west end. Public parking is free of charge in both parking lots on weekdays only. Our Member, Reservations, and Admission timed tickets are not available for sale onsite and are limited each day, so plan! The last online time ticket slots are from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
You must wear face coverings inside buildings, especially for ages two and more. The Zoo is open all year round, including on most holidays. General visiting hours run from 9 am to 5 pm.
